Your Questions, Answered

  • As a DPS parent and a Social Worker, I’ve been trained to get to the bottom of a problem - lost socks or why some schools have two literacy specialists while others have none. I know we can do better by our Durham community. I can bring my good government skills to deliver in Durham County,

  • I take conflicts and appearances of conflicts of interest very seriously as they erode faith in our public institutions and violate my Social Work code of ethics. I will take no corporate money, no money passed from one individual to another (“straw donors”). If endorsed, by a PAC or third party organization, I will be transparent about the financial nature of that support.

  • I’ve been an organizer all my life. I’ve been making change from inside government for the last ten years - fighting for better care for our LGBTQIA Veterans at the Durham VA, reforming the homeless system in Orange County by prioritizing our racial equity efforts, amplifying the voices of people with lived experience of homelessness and ensuring meaningful representation in decision making.

I’ve also had to make the hard decisions when COVID funding was exhausted and we had to be laser focusing on investing in what works.

These decisions are not always popular, but the processes are transparent, and the outcomes are fair.
